Three Weeks In

Today marks three weeks in Siem Reap so far! Below are some pictures from the beginning of my fellowship.

My first day at TGC

Isabelle and I navigating through the crazy Siem Reap traffic on our bikes

Lessons from John Slyer... John and his daughter Julia are actually from Albany and volunteered at TGC for two weeks teaching the kids about first aid, bike mechanics, swimming and microscopes. They also both compete in IronMans which is actually insane!!!

A TGC barbecue after swimming lessons

Dara's two sons rocking their baby sister to sleep... We still don't know their names because Dara exclusively refers to them as "the boys". Three weeks in, it might be a little late to ask now so we've been referring to them as "the boys" as well.

The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh (we took a trip to the capital city of Cambodia with John, Julia and Dara last weekend)

View of Phnom Penh from the city's tallest building

Yup, you read that right... Isabelle after eating her first Cambodian cricket

Library hour at TGC

A cool new vegan restaurant we found in Siem Reap (we also found out they eat dog here, yikes!)

My mid-run obstacle course along with my new training partner

Preach Prom Rath, a pagoda that's only a 5 min bike ride from our apartment

View from where I'm writing this blogpost.. blogception??

til next time,

  1. Love the photos Emma! And delighted to see bike riding with helmets :) Also glad to see you are exploring so much of Siem Reap and what the city and region has to offer. The architecture is amazing! Also love the photos of the kids and the work that you all are doing! Can't wait to hear more!
